Assignment 15

Looking back on the beginning of this year, when I entered this English class my experience of writing or understanding the English structure of writing was at a o level.
During my high school years assignments never expected us to produce term papers.  As such, we were in special education, focusing mainly learning writing paragraphs was is far as we accomplished.  When I registered for this class I was in hopes to learn a whole new world of expressing my ideas on paper. Upon taking this class it seemed so difficult to tack so many weaknesses, not knowing proper format, not knowing how to organize a essay, even write a great thesis was hard.  I find as a example my argument  paper if I keep going over it reading it several times I can realize and stop most grammar errors, yes some slip by me But I have tried. Going to the English tutor this year has helped me a great deal, as well as, my professor .Strengths are few in my case ,but as least I can omit many and willing to try to tackle them. My greatest strength I feel is my willing to try to accomplish a difficult subject that really I never had any clue of the main concept of what English class consisted of.  I found to learn many new way to prepare an essay, outlining, preparing drafts, revisions and my main goal is to prepare a thesis.  I need to keep reinforcing all what I have discussed in class , what I have taped in sessions keep rewinding as I continue to write  but I will continue to absorb every thing in my mind. Yes I have accomplished many new ways of writing And I am very proud of what I have learned, yes they can improve but with the help of tutoring and professors to guide me writing can be tackled easy for me soon.

Assignment 14

I feel the essay I chose taking the a “gap-year” can prove to be the strongest thesis that I produce in all of my drafts, yes I feel I could improve it to be a stronger claim to voice my argument, but I feel this thesis Was the best one I created because I took enough time to focus on my argument. I see looking though my draft need to improve some strengths of my arguments to some of my response to my claims and I need to try to organized the essay in a better well format so upon reading the paragraphs the reader can see a better transition of words from one paragraph to the next which will help readers under stand the support to my claims of argument. With the reader to under stand my claims I can tie my conclusion with my beginning paragraph in order to complete a well  structured argument essay.

Assignment 13

My most enjoyable essay was to write and revise was taking a “gap-year” after upon graduation of high school.   When I entered college I was not fully aware of my career path like most young students fresh out of high school.  Know I believe, after three years of hard studies no time to my self taking the break would have guided to a different level. My mind wants me to go to different places with different learing experiences that I might of have chosen a great career path in. The first reason taking the break can help one with a personal learning style  One has time within that year to focus on their paths they chose to go, Now I am taking classes that do not even pertain to my major I have chosen for myself.  Within this time I can be refreshed ready to make a long hard commit to attend the college of my choice.  Within this time frame I can focus on me who, where I want to go, this is me.

MY Most Compelling Evidence 12

My most compelling evidence that I do support is I believe students after high school should take a “gap-year” after graduation. At this time it gives a student taking the “gap-year” gains valuable life experiences, such as, working or traveling, or just taking a breather that is refreshing from the hard core demanding studies of high school.  Students at this time taking the year off are able to figure out where their interest lies.  This I believe is strong evidence, because logically students who have graduated from high school are not sure what career paths they are gearing for in life.  Taking this break, with give them time to focus on life experiences they learned, such as, learning new traditions and cultures while traveling, choosing the correct career path they would like to pursue or just readily to commit themselves for the hard studies that college requires one to do. Since this will be my strongest evidence I will mention at the beginning of my essay and continue to reiterate throughout my argument.

I feel that my weakest evidence is students can not afford to go, yes there is finical aide available for many, grants private college loans with high interest rates, but generally this is not a reason many stay out for a breather.   This is weak because many students can save money but the expenses of colleges are high way too much for students to save in one year. All another reason being you can earn a certification trade in two years for less money. A great part of the argument being finding jobs out there are not easy but having a certification or some type of degree certainly can help achieve a great job. Taking this way can save many stressful decisions and expenses in the long run

My peer’s analyses

When analyzing my peer’s argument paper I found the writer to appear to be very weak to give supportive reasons for his general argument of his discussion.  Reading each paragraph the supportive reasons were weakened   by the writers unsurely of which position   stand they took of the argument they were trying to present. The argument that the writer was trying to present was not a persuasive for me to become interested to keep reading. Focusing on analyzing papers and reading through my text I can become a better writer while producing a effective argument paper if I take the time to learn more on the topic of my paper I am trying to present to be a persuasive while reading the tone is set strong if you can present enough supportive reasons of each main topic in each paragraph. They all have to be presented in organization fashion to tie in with your main thesis.

What I expect of peer review

The process of peer review is to read each others work and carefully, make helpful comments, to make improvements on errors. We are using our judgment and knowledge within our scope of English we have learned. We are equally qualified to share opinions and comments with each other in order to improve our writing skills we gain negative and positive feedback to revise a finial draft to compose a great essay.

For peer review to be a positive and effective part of writing you must receive a bias opinion that is not to be criticized unfairly. As a peer reviewer myself, I need to trust the judgment of my fellow peer group also in return they must have trust in my opinion. With all the positive and negative feedback that I receive for my peers through instructions on how to improve my grammar errors, run on sentences, verb agreements and more English rules to follow, we can compose a paper to turn into our instructor for a proper grade. As for myself, I some times forget to use the rules of English when writing, my mind seems to wander a lot, so having feedback helps when organizing my thoughts on paper.

My strengths for being a peer reviewer comes from being a fair person on my judgment calls, I speak the truth always willing to share positive information with my fellow student to help them. My weakness as a peer reviewer comes from my difficulty with speech. English has always been a mountain I have been trying to climb, the task of knowing all the rules needs to stay and I need to apply them deeper in my mind.

When writing I the first stages of my essays, I find a good process that helps me is all the feedback I receive from peers and my instructor, writing is made simple and now is becoming a fun project, I can use my mind to write and create a masterpiece of my own.

My Pattern of Errors

IN my writings this was necessary long sentences. Many of these sentences appear to start in one direction and ends up some where else. Words are misplaced and phrases, Peers of mine caught a few fragments sentences. That were lengthy and the reader became exhausted.

When analyzing a few of my papers I identified problems with verb endings such as A and an. Because of my problem with speech, this has become disruptive problem for me. The first essay I try to accomplish problems appeared quite frequently with the subject verb agreement.

Turning my paper in to Ms. Spencer helped me, with her explanations of how I souid become more creative while writing, write from my heart. When Ms. Spencer edited my essays she helped me find additional errors that 2 could not find on my own.

Reading the essay out loud became a tool for me this year, I heard a lot of errors while reading my own essays. Proof reading over each sentence and high lighting mistakes become a long process. Large categories of sentence punctuation errors were very noticeable when peers read over my paper only let me blind to see my own errors.

I know now try to start with the error that is confusing to me the most, subject verb agreement and I a list of errors as I spotted them  and try to shape my paper as I use a English guide book when I revised my papers. I struggle a lot this year but the English tutor and Ms. Spencer helped me become more experience at listening and reading my papers only to find my own errors.
